Course Description

Welcome to the A-Level French revision course, where you’ll have the opportunity to brush up on your language skills and deepen your understanding of French culture and contemporary society. This course is designed to help you prepare for your A-Level exams and build your confidence in using the language in a variety of settings.

We offer this course as a 25-hour study group with a maximum of 12 students, providing each student with a weekly all-in-one learning opportunity. This includes 15 hours of group lessons (9h30-13h daily) in a group of 12 students maximum, 2. 5 hours of one-to-one, and 5 hours of supervised self-study.

Throughout the program, you’ll work with experienced and qualified native French tutors who will guide you through a range of activities designed to improve your reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. You’ll have the chance to give presentations on topics of your choice, engage in topic conversations and general conversations, and practice reading and writing in French. You’ll also be given homework assignments to help you develop your essay-writing skills and prepare for exam-style questions.

All of the textual material used in this course will be drawn from the following topic areas: family and human relationships, the media, food and drink, law and order, religion and belief, health and fitness, work and leisure, equality of opportunity, employment and unemployment, sport, free time activities, travel and tourism, education, cultural life and heritage, war and peace, the developing world, scientific and medical advances, technological innovation, the environment, conservation, pollution, and contemporary aspects of France and other French-speaking countries. You’ll have the opportunity to learn about patterns of daily life in both urban and rural communities and gain an understanding of the rich cultural and historical heritage of French-speaking countries.

In addition to the core course material, you’ll also have the opportunity to work with your set texts and practice answering questions in French on specific passages. You’ll be expected to display detailed knowledge of the texts and show an understanding of how the authors convey their messages.

By the end of this course, you’ll have a strong foundation in French grammar and vocabulary and the skills to communicate effectively and confidently in the language. You’ll also have a deeper appreciation of French culture and contemporary society, and be well-prepared for your A-Level exams.
